About Rob

Thirty years at the center of consequential decisions.

Rob Denker has spent his career working alongside chief executives and senior leaders at moments that define organizations and the people who lead them. He founded rd&partners to do that work with the depth, discretion, and independence it requires.

Background

Rob Denker has spent his career on both sides of the executive table: first as a senior executive helping lead organizations, and then as an advisor to the people who run them.

Before founding rd&partners in 2000, Rob spent 20 years in senior leadership positions with organizations including Johnson Controls, Unilever, CNA Insurance, Aon and LHH. Those roles gave him firsthand experience with the realities of leading organizations, making consequential decisions and being accountable for results.

For more than 25 years through rd&partners, Rob has worked directly with CEOs, senior executives and leadership teams across private equity, manufacturing, professional services and global enterprises. His work has centered on leadership transitions, organizational strategy, executive effectiveness and the difficult decisions that accompany growth and change.

Today, his work is increasingly focused on strategic counsel: providing a small number of senior leaders with an independent perspective when the stakes are high, the answer is not obvious and candor matters.

Philosophy

"The most important thing a leader can have is someone who will tell them what they need to hear — not what they want to hear, and not what is safe to say."

Rob's approach is grounded in a conviction that the best counsel is not advice in the conventional sense. It is the kind of rigorous, honest engagement that helps a leader see their situation more clearly — and from that clarity, decide with greater confidence.

He works with a small number of clients at any given time, by design. The quality of the relationship — the trust, the candor, the accumulated understanding of a leader's context — is the foundation of everything. That cannot be scaled.
